Osorio Serrano Continues Her Winning Run

It’s been a season to remember for Osorio Serrano, who has won almost everything that’s come her way on clay. And the latest in her string of victories came in the second round of this competition against Kamilla Rakhimova.

It took her three sets and two hours and six minutes but in the end, Osorio Serrano came away a winner against Rakhimova to make it to the quarterfinal for the third tournament in a row.

The Colombia had earlier won the title at the Bogota Open and followed it with a semifinal appearance in Charleston. Here, starting out as a qualifier, Osorio Serrano had already taken down Shuai Zhang in the first round before overcoming Rakhimova in the second.

She won 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in a match filled with 15 breaks of serves – with Osorio Serrano edging ahead with one extra break.

Osorio Serrano will need to serve a lot better come the quarterfinal.

Sasnovich Overcomes Bucsa

Facing the 172nd-ranked Cristina Bucsa, Sasnovich required three sets but came through to make it two wins in a row for the first time this season.

Sasnovich shrugged off a loss of focus in the second set when she failed to convert a 2-0 lead into a win, to clinch the final set 6-0 and coast into the last eight.

Having earlier gotten past Xiyu Wang, also in three sets, Sasnovich will now look to make it three wins in a row for the first time since she reached the final in Limoges in 2019. And discounting $125k competitions, it was only in Sydney in the January of 2019 that Sasnovich had won three in three.

Up against her, however, is a player who has taken the world of clay by storm. Can the much more experienced and 27-year-old Sasnovich claim a surprise win?

Osorio Serrano v Sasnovich Prediction and Tip
