Cori Gauff v Katerina Siniakova Head to Head

The only previous meeting between these two players came at the 2020 Ostrava Open when Gauff defeated Siniakova in straight sets in the first round there.

Gauff Batters Anisimova to Move Forward

A quarterfinal in Charleston and a semifinal in Rome. Those are two of Gauff’s best performances of the season, both of which have come on clay.

Earlier this season, there were similar appearances on the hard courts of Adelaide and Dubai as well, making this a more solid season for Gauff than there ever has been in her short career.

Now, moving into the semifinal here in Parma, she has a chance to go one better already.

And that has been possible thanks to a clinical display in all of the three matches she has played so far but more vitally against fellow American Amanda Anisimova whom she crushed 6-3, 6-3.

The match lasted all of an hour and 14 minutes and while Gauff was broken three times in the encounter, she retaliated with six breaks of her own.

In both the sets, Gauff had to mount a fightback. The first saw her go a break down on two occasions but she broke back both times and then once more to claim the set. And then in the second, Anisimova raced off to a 3-0 lead only for Gauff to run away with six games in a row.

As far as confidence goes, Gauff will be at her superlative best.

Siniakova in First Semifinal in 21 Months

The last time Siniakova made it as far as the semifinal of a WTA competition it was August 2019. And that came on the hard courts of the New York Open.

Life on court hasn’t been kind for the Czech since then and it’s taken her 21 months to reach another semifinal. This time around it’s come at the expense of three very tricky players and in straight sets too.

In the first round, Siniakova defeated Clara Tauson, a youngster who has been making a lot of waves recently.

She then shocked Serena Williams in the second round in what would probably be one of the biggest wins of her career.

And Siniakova now enters the semifinal of the back of an easy win over Caroline Garcia, defeating the Frenchwoman 7-5, 6-1. While Cori Gauff will be a lot tougher to beat, the Czech will know she has a good chance.

Gauff v Siniakova Prediction and Tip

While Siniakova is 2/1 to win this, the momentum she has shown should count for something and we could see a keen tussle to kick things off.
