Soon-woo Continues His Belgrade Journey

South Korean Soon-woo last played a match in this very city, losing to the world number one Novak Djokovic in the second round of the first ever edition of the Belgrade Open. A month on, the Korean will play his next match on the tour, also in Belgrade.

Kwon has had a middling season so far which has seen him win a title on the Challenger tour in Biella. Armed with that confidence, the Korean then stormed into the quarterfinal of the Singapore Open and later shifting to clay played in first tournament in Marbella.

At the Marbella Open, Kwon fought through to a three-set win over Holger Rune before crushing Facundo Bagnis in the second round. A quarterfinal loss to Pablo Carreno-Busta and a second round defeat at the Belgrade Open means he enters this tournament on a 3-2 win-loss record on clay this season.

For a player who had never won a match on clay before this season, that’s a huge achievement already.

Krstin Gets Rare Main Draw Opportunity

26-year-old Serb Krstin has been around playing professional tennis for a while now but hasn’t been able to get his ATP Ranking higher than 159th in the world. As a result he has featured in only five matches in main draws of ATP competitions, winning two and losing three of them.

None of them have come this year but even while he has played at the lower circuit, things haven’t looked good for him.

Peda’s only two wins have come in the first rounds of lower level competitions – one in a Challenger in South Africa and the other, more recently in a Futures event a few days ago. While he has the highest rank among the Serbian wildcard entrants, his form hasn’t been anything to watch out.

He will need to do a lot better than what he has done this season to emulate his showing from the 2016 Mexican Challenger which has been the only competition he’s won on that circuit.

Soon-woo v Krstin Prediction and Tip

Kwon is 1/6 to win this and while Krisin could have proved to be a handful at home, his form hasn’t been much to write home about. Expect the Korean to take this in straight sets.
