Korda Looking to Find His Feet on Clay
America’s Sebastian Korda comes to Parma with an 11-7 record in 2021.
The 20-year-old, who made an impressive main draw debut at Roland Garros last year, continued his terrific form in 2021, reaching the final of the Delray Beach Open and the quarterfinals of the Miami Open (also on debut).
Going into the Delray Beach Open as World No. 119, Korda defeated SoonWoo Kwon in the first round, Tommy Paul in the Round of 16, John Isner in the quarterfinal and Cameron Norrie in the semifinal before falling to Hubert Hurkacz in his maiden ATP final.
Son of former Australian Open champion Petr Korda, Sebastian had an equally impressive Miami Open debut, reaching the quarterfinals by defeating Radu Albot, Fabio Fognini, Aslan Karatsev and Diego Schwartzman in the first four rounds. He eventually lost to Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals.
Korda, who reached the fourth round at Roland Garros in 2020, has struggled on clay this season, making first round exits from Belgrade and Munich after losses to Aljaz Bedene and Daniel Elahi Galan and failing to qualify for Madrid after losing the first qualifier against Arthur Cazaux. He finally won his first match on clay this year in Lyon this week, defeating Pierre-Hugues Herbert in straight sets, but fell to Lorenzo Musetti in the second round.

Seppi to Play First Match on Clay This Year
Facing Korda in the first round will be 37-year-old Italian Andreas Seppi, who is 0-2 at the ATP level this year.
The former World No. 18 lost in the first rounds of Melbourne-1 and the Australian Open to Salvatore Caruso and Pablo Cuevas respectively.
He hasn’t played on the Tour since then, barring the qualifiers in Rotterdam. However, Seppi did play a few Challenger events, winning the Biella-3 title and reaching the semifinals at Biella-2.
This will be Seppi’s first match on clay this season. The Italian has won three career titles but none since winning in Moscow in 2012. He has also had seven runner-up finishes, with the last of those coming at the New York Open last year.
Korda v Seppi Prediction and Tip
Korda will be a heavy favourite to win this match. Seppi has clearly struggled on the surface over the last few years and Korda will sense an opportunity to get into a good rhythm by starting off the campaign with an easy win.
Tip: Korda to win in straight sets: 8/15 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
