Djokovic Getting There on Clay

Djokovic has a bundle of clay court titles but none of them have come this season. He has played three and each time he has gotten closer, including getting to the final at the Rome Masters a week ago.

There, the world number one had done well to get to the final. Wins over Stefanos Tsitsipas and Lorenzo Sonego got him to the title-decider where he fought well against Rafael Nadal, taking a set off him but in the end, fell away in three sets.

Prior to that run-up to the final, Djokovic had made it to the semifinal in the first edition of the Belgrade Open, falling to Aslan Karatsev. And even that had been an improvement on the third round appearance at the Monte-Carlo Masters just before that.

Djokovic did admit after those two performances he needed a rebooted and there might have been on show in Rome. Can he now go the distance here in his home tournament in the lead-up to the French Open?

Moraing Wins Second Match of His Career

Winner of a couple of Challenger titles and eight Futures tournaments, Moraing hasn’t done much on the highest level. In fact, his first round win here in Belgrade against Egor Gerasimov was just the second of his career in main draws of competitions.

And it didn’t come easy for Moraing, who needed more than three hours to carve out the victory.

Moraing exchanged six successive breaks of serves with his opponent to take the first set scoreline to 4-4. A hold by Gerasimov and then a break next game helped him take the opening set.

When Moraing fell 4-0 behind in the second, it looked like the writing seemed to be on the wall. Instead, the world number 253 stormed back to level things out with back to back breaks, overturn two match-points in the tie-breaker that followed, before coming back from 4-5 down to break twice and clinch the match.

Things will be slightly different when he takes on the world number one though.

Djokovic v Moraing Prediction and Tip

Djokovic is 1/100 to win this and 1/16 to do that in straight sets. Expecting anything lesser than that from Djokovic would be expecting the improbable.

Tip: Djokovic to win in straight sets: 1/16 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
