This is the first meeting between the two ladies on the WTA Tour.

Swiatek Off to a Solid Start

The 20-year-old Polish is off to a brilliant start in the French Open 2021, starting with a 6-0, 7-5 win over her sparring partner Kaja Juvan. That win marked her seventh consecutive win on the clay surface as she continues to establish her dominance on the tour.

Before Roland Garros, she played in the Italian Open where she had a title-winning run after beating the likes of Elina Svitolina, Cori Gauff, and Karolina Pliskova.

That was her second title of the season – with the first one being the WTA 500 event Adelaide International where she dispatched Belinda Bencic in the final. In addition to this, she also reached the third round in the Madrid Open and Miami Open.

On the back of these sensational wins, Swiatek has cracked the top 10 as she finds herself ranked World No. 9. She has been among the most consistent players on the WTA Tour this season and is certainly one of the favourites to go the distance in Paris.

Peterson Stuns Rogers in the Opener

Rebecca Peterson’s opening game in the French Open wasn’t as smooth as Swiatek’s. She played the American Shelby Rogers whom she defeated 6-7(3), 7-6(8), 6-2 to reach the second round.

The 26-year-old is looking to win her maiden singles title since the 2019 Tianjin Open and her efforts for the same this season have been fairly underwhelming. Among her best runs include quarterfinal stints in the Phillip Island Trophy, WTA 125K series event in Lyon, and the Serbia Ladies Open.

She last played in the Strasbourg Open where she fell to Yulia Putintseva in the first round. Moreover, the Swede hasn’t got that great of a record against top 10 players either. Her only win against a top 10 player came in the 2019 Citi Open against Sloane Stephens.

Interestingly, Peterson has never made it past the second round in the French Open.

Swiatek v Peterson Prediction and Tip

This one is easy to call. Swiatek is on fire and has been nothing but consistent this season, especially on clay. Peterson, on the other hand, lacks the momentum and form needed to beat a player of Swiatek’s calibre.

Expect the Pole to win this one comfortably.

Tip: Swiatek to win in straight sets: 2/9 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
