Nadia Podoroska v Patricia Maria Tig Head to Head

The two ladies have met just once previously on the WTA Tour – it was the 2019 ITF Seville quarterfinal, where Patricia won in three sets.

Podoroska Enjoying her Career-Best Season

Currently ranked World No. 39, Nadia Podoroska is enjoying her best singles ranking at the moment, despite a rather uneventful spell in clay tournaments. Nonetheless, her performances – however average they may seem – have helped her crack the top 40 as the Argentinean now sets her sights for more success.

There is certainly a lot of potential in this 24-year-old player – in the Italian Open, she made it to the third round after dispatching former World No. 1 Serena Williams in straight sets. In the Serbian Open, she reached the same round but was beaten by Ana Konjuh.

In the French Open, Podoroska’s form took a sharp hit as she lost her opening bout to Belinda Bencic. However, she did reach the semifinal in the doubles half in Paris with Irina-Camelia Begu, allowing her to achieve her best ranking on the doubles circuit too.

Plus, at the start of the season, Podoroska reached the quarterfinal in the Yarra Valley Classic, upsetting Petra Kvitova en route. That said, consistency hasn’t been Podoroska’s strong point but that is not to say she is a player to be taken lightly. In Bad Homburg, she beat Mara Guth in the opener with 6-0, 6-3 to reach the second round.

Best Run for Maria Tig Since February

Patricia Maria Tig beat the German Mona Barthel in her opening match of the tournament with 7-6(4), 6-3. With this second-round appearance, the Romanian has delivered the best run of her season since the 2021 Phillip Island Trophy, where she made it as far as the round of 16.

Since then, the 26-year-old participated in five different tournaments but never made it past the opening-round match in any of them. In the Qatar Open, she fell right in the qualifiers while in the Italian Open, she lost to Garbine Muguruza after successfully navigating the qualifying games.

Maria Tig is seeking her first singles title since the 2020 Istanbul Cup when she beat Eugenie Bouchard in the final to lift her maiden WTA singles trophy.

Podoroska v Maria Tig Prediction and Tip
