Ons Jabeur v Rebecca Peterson Head to Head

Their only previous encounter came at the 2019 Tianjin Open where Peterson managed to get past Jabeur to reach the final.

Jabeur’s Maiden WTA Title Comes on Grass

It was only two weeks ago that Jabeur clinched her maiden title on the WTA circuit and it came on the grass courts of Birmingham Open.

Jabeur, who had twice before made it to the final of WTA competitions, finally managed to make it a title victory when she defeated Daria Kasatkina in the final in Birmingham.

And it isn’t just about grass for Jabeur. The Tunisian is already sitting pretty at her career-best ranking of 24th in the world, which she has achieved thanks to her performances all season.

Having featured in 11 tournaments in 2021, Jabeur has won at least one match in all of them and won at least two in a row in eight of them. At Charleston, on clay, Jabeur reached the semifinal and then followed it up with an appearance in the final at the same venue the following week.

With a second round appearance at Wimbledon being her best showing so far, she will want to correct it quickly this year and for that, she will hope to start off strongly here.

Peterson Poor on Grass

A first round exit in the only grass court tournament Peterson played this season doesn’t augur too well for the Swede but it is also symptomatic about the way her career has gone on this surface.

Peterson, who was shocked by Tamara Korpatsch, a player ranked 143rd in the world at Bad Homburg, has won just one match at Wimbledon in her career. That had come in 2018 but other than that as well Peterson’s gone past her opponents in three main draw matches on grass.

Add to that the fact Peterson has struggled to get going this season in most tournaments and we are looking at a very tough opening outing for the world number 43.

With a first round exit at Australian Open and a second round loss at French Open in 2021, Peterson has a task on her hand to try and make things difficult for her Tunisian opponent.

Jabeur v Peterson Prediction and Tip

Jabeur’s grown to be a player to watch and a first title on grass makes her a heavy favourite here. Expecting a straight-set win for Jabeur.
