Good Season For Zverev Despite Halle Failure

Fourth seed German Alexander Zverev comes to Wimbledon confident at the back of a good season which included two titles, at the Mexican Open and at the Madrid Masters,  as well as a quarter-final and semi-final showing at the Aussie & French Opens respectively.

As he seeks a first ever major title, Zverev arrived in Halle ready to kickstart his grass swing. The German had been runner-up in 2016 and 2017 at Halle and has also defeated 10-time champion Roger Federer there in 2016.  However, it was a disappointing run at Halle as he lost early to eventual champion Ugo Humbert of France.

Zverev has never been past the fourth round at Wimbledon (that too in 2017) and his last grass swing in 2019 was disappointing with opening round exits at both Stuttgart and at the All-England club.

The German with a favorable draw in the early rounds and in good touch overall this year, will look to make a deep run this coming fortnight over at Wimbledon before he runs into the like of Matteo Berrettini, Daniil Medvedev and Roger Federer in his section of the draw.

Griekspoor Hoping To Make a Mark In Wimbledon Opener

Dutch Tallon Griekspoor has been on the tour since 2017, and holds a 4-12 record on the ATP tour. Two of these wins have come against Stan Wawrinka and Karen Khachanov, at his home tourney, i.e the ATP 500 at Rotterdam.

His only major appearance thus far has been the 2020 Australian Open, as he now qualifies for his second Grand Slam and makes his Wimbledon main draw debut.

Griekspoor has not met with much success this year except a few opening round wins at Montpellier, Acapulco and Barcelona and will hope the next half of the season brings better results for him.

Zverev v Griekspoor Prediction and Tip

Making his Wimbledon debut, the Dutchman runs into none other than Zverev which in of itself is always a challenge for the best. While Griekspoor will like to leave an impression, it looks like an extremely uphill task.

Expect a comfortable straight sets opening round win for Zverev
