Maria Sakkari v Shelby Rogers Head to Head

Starting as the number 15 seed, Maria Sakkari fired warning shots to the rest of the opponents in her bracket with a clinical 6-1, 6-1 win over Arantxa Rus. The match lasted for just 51 minutes and saw the Greek dole out 19 winners (in comparison to Rus’s three) and seven aces.
Currently enjoying life as World No. 18 – her best singles ranking yet – Sakkari arrived in London for her first grass tournament of the season. Her last competition was the French Open where she reached the semifinal – her first one in a Grand Slam – before falling to Barbora Krejcikova.
Her other highlights of the season include reaching the same stage in the Miami Open (beating Naomi Osaka on the way), Grampians Trophy, and WTA Abu Dhabi. It is on the foundation of these consistent runs that she cracked the top 20.
In fact, except for a handful of tournaments, the 25-year-old Greek has always made it past the early stages in WTA events this season.

Rogers Looking for Solid Footing in Wimbledon
Rogers started her campaign in London with a 6-1, 5-7, 6-3 win over Samantha Stosur in the opener. The match went on for just under two hours and saw the American win on the back of several unforced errors committed by Stosur.
With this, the 28-year-old has matched her preceding run in Eastbourne International where, as a qualifier, she made it to round two before losing to Camila Giorgi.
Rogers started the season on a promising note with back to back deep runs in the Yarra Valley Classic and the Australian Open, where she reached the quarterfinal and the fourth round respectively. She had similar stints in Adelaide and Charleston as well but nothing substantial could come of it.
Since switching to European tournaments in May, her form has gone down further with most of her runs ending in early-round exits.
Sakkari v Rogers Prediction and Tip
There is no doubt that Sakkari will start this match as the favourite. But Rogers, being experienced and capable herself, will make things difficult for the Greek. Expect this to be an entertaining match, one that may see three sets.
