Viktoria Kuzmova v Mona Barthel Head to Head

Kuzmova holds a 1-0 lead over Barthel, last beating her in the 2018 WTA Dubai in three sets.

Kuzmova Hoping for a Positive Spell in Prague

World No. 153 Viktoria Kuzmova has had a pretty uneventful season to date, at least on the singles circuit. With a win-loss tally of 6-10 as of Wimbledon, the Slovak hasn’t quite managed to deliver a deep run on the tour in 2021.

The best she has achieved in this regard is a quarterfinal appearance in the Monterrey Open where she lost to Leylah Fernandez. Apart from that, most of her runs have been stopped right in the early rounds.

It was the case in the French Open and most recently, Wimbledon too where Kuzmova fell in the qualifying rounds.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed a comparatively better time on the doubles circuit. She is ranked #32 there, courtesy of her doubles title with Arantxa Rus in the Lyon Open, and the runner-up feat from the Yarra Valley Classic with Anna Kalinskaya.

Seeing that Kuzmova is facing an opponent who is sailing in a similar boat to hers, she will fancy her chances of delivering a decent performance here in Prague.

Barthel on a Five-Match Losing Streak

Mona Barthel is heading into this tournament on the back of a pretty disappointing spell herself. She has lost her opening-round fixtures in the last four tournaments comprising Bett1Open, Bad Homburg Open, the Wimbledon, and most recently, the German Open last week (where she fell to Kristina Kucova in the opener).

Before that, the German featured in the Roland Garros where she incurred a fate similar to her Slovakian adversary in the qualifiers.

Playing in a mix of ITF and WTA events, the best results Barthel has recorded in 2021 is reaching the quarterfinal in the ITF Bellinzona $60,000 event and the second round in the Australian Open.

The 31-year-old has some experience on her side but that may not be enough to get the job done against Kuzmova, especially considering the inconsistencies in her form.

Kuzmova v Barthel Prediction and Tip

At the moment, Barthel is ranked some 40 odd places below Kuzmova which tells us all there is to know about this match. It is hard to predict a winner here but it wouldn’t be surprising if this goes to three sets.

Tip: Three sets in the match: 6/4 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
