Cristian Garin v Pedro Martinez Head to Head
Garin beat Martinez as recently as the third round of the Wimbledon Championships in their only meeting before this.

While Cristian Garin is known for his claycourt prowess, he produced an eye-catching run to the Round of 16 at Wimbledon. After a kind draw in which he did not face a single seed en route, thanks in part to a handful of upsets, Garin did not let the opportunity pass by him.
But Garin faced a stratospheric level of competition in the fourth round when he drew the World No. 1 Novak Djokovic. Eventually, he would lose in straight sets to the eventual champion.
Having established himself as one of Chile’s finest talents, the 25-year-old has broken the world’s top 20 for the first time.
Once again the foundation of his success has been on clay court this season. He won an ATP 250 on home soil in Santiago during the Golden Swing and reached the second week in back-to-back Grand Slams – the French Open and Wimbledon respectively.
Garin will target to end his terribel run of results in Bastad on Wednesday. He fell in the qualifying rounds twice and was beaten by Jeremy Chardy in his last main draw appearance in 2019.

Martinez Ousts Denis Novak
Pedro Martinez excelled on his main draw debut at the Swedish Open. He beat Austrian qualifier Denis Novak 7-5 6-1 to book his spot in the second round against the second-seeded Garin.
Considering that Martinez was returning from his exploits on the lawns of Wimbledon, Novak looked a value pick to upset him. The Austrian World No. 122 had also chiseled his game in the qualifiers where he was broken once in two matches.
But neither player looked like holding serve in the early exchanges. With six games in, there were already four breaks of serve. The set was destined to go into a tiebreak until Novak felt the scoreboard pressure at 5-6 and conceded the set.
And in the second set, Martinez’s clicked into gear and he was handling the pace of shots beautifully and returning with depth. He won 77% of first-serve points in the set and won seven out of 13 return points to close out a comfortable win.
Garin v Martinez Prediction and Tip
This is a rematch of their Wimbledon clash just a few weeks ago in which Garin was pushed to four sets. We expect this to be another match of very fine margins between the pair.
