Caruso Coming Off Challengers To Fix Form

Italian Salvatore Caruso has been in poor form this season and had to resort to the ATP Challenger Tour. Since the second round at the ATP Masters 1000 in Monte Carlo, the Italian lost eight matches in a row ending with a first round exit at Wimbledon.

He then went over to play a Challenger in Perugia, which he qualified for the semi-finals in.  Despite another first round loss last week at the Swedish Open, Caruso will be hoping for a better run this week before getting into the US Open Series on hard courts where he made the round of 32 in New York last year.

Caruso is ranked just within the top 100 and would like to see the rankings improve in the latter half of the season.

Travaglia Switches from Grass to Clay

Well suited to the clay, Andrej Martin made the round of 32 at Roland Garros in 2016,  and the following year reached his one and only senior ATP final thus far here at the Croatian Open where he lost the title to Fabio Fognini.

He has never been past the opening round of a major since despite having a good baseline game. It was not the best of seasons for him as he did not go past the first round at the Aussie or French Open and did not qualify for Wimbledon.

Martin has looked off color and thus resorted to the Challengers similar to Caruso. It was not the best of Swedish Opens for him last week, but he will be hoping to hit better form this week at a venue where he has had good results in the past.

Caruso v Martin Prediction and Tip
