Olympic Champion Will Look Continue Building on Tremendous Year

Olympic champion will begin his North American swing on Tuesday, with hopes of getting his first win in Cincy after losing all six of his previous matches in the tournament.

With three titles this year, including a gold in Tokyo, a Masters 100o in Madrid and a Masters 500 in Acapulco, Zverev brings a solid 33-11 record to Cincinnati, but he will still be nervous because of the 0-6 record in the tournament, where he has been a regular since 2015.

The 2020 U.S. Open finalist, will however, be looking to break the Cincinnati jinx as he prepares for the final slam of the year. He will be looking to draw inspiration from his high-quality  performances this year, which includes a first semifinal finish at Roland Garros and a run to the last eight at the Australian Open.

It will be interesting to see if those performances propel him to new heights this week or if the ghosts of the past continue to haunt him in Cincinnati.

Harris Hustles Past Nishioka

Lloyd Harris began his campaign on Monday with a straight sets win over Yoshihito Nishioka in the first round. The World No. 46 needed an hour and 26 minutes to beat the Japanese 6-3, 6-4.

After holding serves for the first three games of the first set, Harris broke Nishioka to go 3-1 up. The Japanese got the break back a couple of games later, but the South African broke back immediately to restore advantage and then held on to serve out the first set.

Harris opened a 5-2 lead with two breaks in the second, and despite Nishioka getting a break back, he sealed the contest to advance into the next round.

The 24-year-old, who reached the final in Dubai earlier this year, has been in decent touch of late, which also saw him score a famous win over Rafael Nadal in Washington two weeks ago. Monday’s victory improved his season record to 20-16.

Zverev v Harris Prediction and Tip
