Bernarda Pera v Jil Teichmann Head to Head
This is the first meeting between the two players on the WTA Tour.

26-year-old Bernarda Pera started with a wildcard in the Western & Southern Open. In the opener, she moved past the Swede Rebecca Peterson 6-4, 6-1 to reach the second round.
Should the American win here and make it to the third three, it will be her best run of the season. In every other WTA event so far this year, Pera has been beaten right in the early rounds. Her most notable performances came in the Madrid Open and Italian Open where she reached the second round as a qualifier to walk away with 90 odd ranking points.
Most recently, Pera played in Montreal last week where she fell in the qualifiers to Harriet Dart.
As a doubles player, however, she has had a much better time on the tour in the form of a semifinal run in the French Open and Canadian Open with Magda Linette.

Teichmann, in a Similar Tide
Jil Teichmann’s recent form has been somewhat similar to that of Pera’s, marked by a bunch of early-round exits.
With just one win in the last five tournaments, the Swiss is keen on making amends for those results here in Cincinnati. So far, she has beaten Sorana Cirstea in straight sets to set up the clash with her American adversary.
Before arriving for the tournament, Teichmann featured in the Canadian Open where she succumbed to Danielle Collins in the opener.
That said, the 24-year-old enjoyed a comparatively better spell at the start of the season by reaching the semis in the Adelaide International and WTA Dubai, and the quarterfinal in the Phillip Island Trophy. Unfortunately, she couldn’t emulate the same run in the subsequent tournaments.
Pera v Teichmann Prediction and Tip
This is a close game to call but if we’re to pick a favourite, it would have to be Teichmann – solely on account of her overall superior run in 2021.
