Nadia Podoroska v Bernarda Pera Head to Head
Podoroska and Pera have never been involved in any head-to-head battles. However, both are seen as tough-as-nails competitors in the circuit and should produce a fascinating contest.

Podoroska Coming off Mertens at Cincinnati
Coming into Cincinnati on the back of a third-round finish at the Canadian Open, Podoroska drew Belgian Elise Mertens in the opening round at the Masters.
However, the rising Argentine came up short against the seasoned Belgian on the day as she went down in straight sets.
The 24-year-old fell back early in the contest as the Belgian put her under the skids on the concrete at the Masters. Profiting from an early break, Mertens held on to her lead to take the opening by a comfortable 6-3 margin.
Wary not to take her foot off the pedal, the Belgian dished out a similarly clinical performance in the second set, putting the finishing touches on a richly deserved and facile 6-3, 6-4 victory.
The Argentine will open her Cleveland campaign against 82nd-ranked Bernarda Pera of the US.
While Podoroska will be keen to rise from the disappointment at Montreal, the American will be just as eager to get off to a winning start against the Argentine.

Pera Didn’t Survive Teichmann
Seen as one of many rising stars in American women’s tennis, Pera came into the Cincinnati Masters on a the back of a disappointment loss to Harriet Dart of Great Britain in a qualifying match for the Canadian Open.
Drawing Rebecca Peterson of Sweden in her opening match at the Masters, the American carved out an emphatic 6-4, 6-1 victory to set up a third-round clash with Jil Teichmann of Switzerland.
However, the 26-year-old American was no match for the Swiss on the day, as the left-handed Swiss routed her 6-1, 6-4 to send her out of the tournament.
However, Pera has a chance to redeem herself at the Cleveland Championships but faces a tough opener against Argentine Nadia Podoroska, who had famously taken down 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams at this year’s Italian Open.
Podoroska v Pera Prediction and Tip
Since Pera and Podoroska have never been involved in a head-to-head battle before, it would be tough to call the this third-round tie in favor of either. But with the home crowd behind her back, the American will start as favorite in the contest.
