Elena Rybakina v Veronika Kudermetova Head to Head

Rybakina and Kudermetova have featured in just one career head-to-head meeting till date. The pair went against each other in the quarter-final of the 2018 St. Petersburg Open, with Rybakina coming through in a hard fought three-setter.

Rybakina Went Down to Halep in US Open Third Round

Coming into the US Open on the back of a last-16 finish at the Cincinnati Masters, Rybakina drew Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus in the opening round at the Flushing Meadows.

The current World No.17 came up with a dominating performance, pummeling the hapless Belarussian in straight sets to set up a second-round meeting with Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia.

Cranking up a gear against the Frenchwoman, Rybakina slayed Garcia 6-1, 6-4 in a flawless display of tennis to storm in the third round.

Facing a much bigger challenge in her next against two-time Grand Slam champion Simona Halep, Rybakina came up short in a pulsating three-setter to crash out of the US Open.

After Halep pipped her Kazakh opponent  in a fiercely fought tiebreak in the opening set, Rybakina battled back to win the second set by a comfortable margin.

However, the vastly experienced Romanian had the last laugh as she regained her composure and bearings to eventually prevail in three sets.

The World No. 17 will have the title firmly in her sights as she opens her Ostrava Open campaign against Veronika Kudermetova of Russia.

Their recent doubles pairing at the Cincinnati Masters would have given them enough sense about each other’s game, going into only their second career head-to-head meeting on Monday.

However, victory in their only previous head-to-head meeting would fill Rybakina with the belief of an encore in the Czech Republic.

Kudermetova Crashed out of US Open Opener

Kudermetova did not have the best run of results going into the US Open as she crashed out in the third round of the Cincinnati Masters after losing to two-time Grand Slam champion Petra Kvitova.

Drawing veteran Romanian star Sorana Cirstea in the opening-round at the US Open, the 31st-ranked Russian fought hard but went down in three sets.

After losing a hard-fought tiebreaker in the first set, Kudermetova fought back valiantly to take the contest to a decider. However, raising her game in the final set, the Romanian bageled the Russian to eventually prevail 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 6-0.

Coming into the Ostrava Open, the Russian will eye a winning start against Rybakina. Having lost their only previous head-to-head clash, Kudermetova  will be determined to level the score.

However, the Russian will know that she has to be at the top of her game to get the result in her favor this time.

Rybakina v Kudermetova Prediction and Tip

Her superior ranking and victory in their only previous head-to-head clash will put Rybakina at a slight advantage over Kudermetova going into this first-round battle. However, the Russian has the game to spring an upset on her Kazakh rival.

Tip: Rybakina to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
