Laslo Djere v Filip Krajinovic Head to Head

Djere and Krajinovic have been involved in three career, head-to-head meetings till date, with the latter holding a commanding 3-0 lead over the former. Their last meeting was at the semifinal at Hamburg this year, which saw Krajinovic racing to a straight-set win.

Djere Fights Past Martinez

Coming into the Sofia Open on the back of a quarter-final finish in Astana, Djere launched his Sofia campaign in the hope of going deeper in the tournament.

Drawing Pedro Martinez in his tournament opener, the 47th-ranked Serb with career Tour titles to his name, fought off a spirited challenge from the doughty Spaniard to take the opening set via a tiebreak.

While the first set fell into the Serb’s kitty, he had to literally work his socks off for it. The same showed in the score-line as the opening-set tiebreaker was won 7-5.

However, taking the momentum from his close win in the first set, the Serb moved into a higher gear in the second. The early pressure that he brought to bear on his opponent helped him to a clear lead and he cashed in on his advantage to eventually get over the line in straight sets.

Djere will have revenge on his mind as he goes to battle with fellow countryman Filip Krajinovic in a last-16 clash on Thursday.

Though currenty ranked 10 places higher than Djere in singles, Krajinovic doesn’t have a Tour title against his name as yet and he would be keen to address this strange anomaly in the Bulgarian capital.

With all three previous outings against fellow countryman ending in defeat for Djere, he would be similarly determined to get one over Krajinovic this time.

Krajinovic Thumps Lazarov to Make Round 2

After suffering three back-to-back opening-round ousters at the Cincinnati Masters, US Open and the Astana Open, Krajinovic came to Sofia hoping to snap his run of losses and rediscover the form that took him to the final of this year’s German Open.

To that end, the 37th-ranked Serbian did take some strides with a clinical win in the opening round. Launching his campaign against unheralded Bulgarian Alexander Lazarov, Krajinovic blazed to a 6-0 win the opening set.

The second set panned out on similar lines as the Serbian, bursting with newfound confidence, bossed the run of play and opened up a clear lead before cruising home 6-0, 6-3.

Between Krajinovic and a place in the quarter-finals stands compatriot Laslo Djere. Though he finished on the winning side in all their previous meetings, Krajinovic will be wary of a blowback from his fellow countryman this time.

Djere v Krajinovic Prediction and Tip

On current form, Djere will start as a slight favorite going into this last-16 clash against Krajinovic. However, having won all their previous head-to-head fixtures, Krajinovic will fancy another win on Thursday.
