Hurkacz Knocks Off Paul

In a week where Hubert Hurkacz cannot put a foot wrong, he made a winning start to his Paris Masters campaign with an impressive 7-5 7-6 win over Tommy Paul. That keeps in the loop among the contenders for the ATP Finals which looks to be going down to the wire.

Hurkacz made a fast start against the rapidly rising Paul, breaking him twice to establish clear daylight. But from a position of utter dominance, he was pegged back as the American reeled five straight games to level. But Hurkacz regrouped and maintained his focus and broke Paul in the 12th game to clinch the first set.

In the second set, Paul appeared on his way to level matters when he established a 5-3 lead. But he failed in his attempt to serve for set, and was broken back courtesy of an untimely double fault. Hurkacz took the opportunity and forced a tiebreak which he ultimately won.

Overall, the Pole struck 13 aces and won 71% first-serve points. He will need a consistent performance against the dangerous Dominik Koepfer.

Koepfer Stuns Auger-Aliassime

Felix Auger-Aliassime became the second victim in Dominik Koepfer’s list after suffering a straight-sets defeat that effectively ends his slim hopes of ATP Finals qualification. The win marks the first time that the German lefty has won back-to-back matches since the Tokyo Olympics.

Kopefer followed up his extraordinary first-round win over Andy Murray, with a rather more subjugated 6-3 7-5 win that lasted an hour and 36 minutes. He took advantage of the Canadian’s malfunctioning second serve, which averaged at 35% of points won.

Kopefer created eight break points and converted four of them, twice in each set. In contrast, Auger-Aliassime took just one break point from three, and couldn’t outmuscle the 27-year-old who was stoic and patient.

The German is now eyeing an unlikely berth in the quarterfinals as a lucky loser. Quite a story.

Hurkacz v Koepfer Prediction and Tip

With the way Koepfer is playing this week, we cannot rule out an upset. But the Pole will be in buoyant mood after Jannik Sinner’s loss to Alcaraz. He has a massive opportunity to pass the Italian in the Race, and we are backing him end Koepfer’s fairytale run.

Tip: Hurkacz to win AND over 19.5 games: 6/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
