Simona Halep v Beatriz Haddad Maia Head to Head

Haddad Maia Finally Wins Main Draw Match
It had been a while since Haddad Maia last won a main draw encounter, having lost her opening round matches earlier at the Sydney International and Melbourne Summer Set.
At the former she was a qualifier who lost to Belinda Bencic while at the latter there was a three-set first round defeat at the hands of Sara Sorribes Tormo.
And when Haddad Maia fell behind a set to the 176th-ranked Katie Volynets, it looked like an upset was on the cards with the Brazilian player having begun at 4/5 odds to scoop the encounter.
However, she came back to complete a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory, needing two hours and 12 minutes to make it through and seal her place in round two. She dropped serve five times but then again broke her opponent seven times to make it further in the draw.
