Ramanathan attempted to qualify for Adelaide and the Australian Open, however, failed at the first hurdle on both occasions. In Adelaide, the Indian lost to rising star Rune 6-4 7-6(7), and in Melbourne, the 27-year-old lost out to Moroni in Q1 6-3 7-5.
In 2021, Ramanathan had an impressive year on the challenger circuit, recording 45 wins, with 23 of these coming on hard courts. The Indian reached 6 quarter-finals, one final, and won a title in Baharin.
The Manama Challenger in Baharin saw Ramanathan lift the trophy. Along the way, recording victories against Orlov, Ajdukovic, Oliveira, and Clarke, before securing the silverware with a 6-1 6-4 win over Karlovskiy.
A win against Travaglia would secure a first ATP main draw win for over a year for Ramanathan, and in his home country, the 27-year-old will be very motivated to get the win in front of home fans.

Travaglia Seeking Hard Court Form
Travaglia has not had the best start to 2022 and is currently 1/4 for the year. His only win came against Romios in Sydney qualifying, where he beat the Australian 7-5 6-1. This victory saw him into Q2 of Sydney qualifying where he played another Australian, this time losing to O’Connell 6-3 6-4. Despite this loss, Travaglia got a lucky loser spot against Kecmanovic which also ended up in defeat, losing out to the Serbian 6-2 6-3.
The Italian drew the short straw against top-20 player Bautista Agut at the Australian Open, losing out to the Spaniard 7-6(2) 6-4 5-7 6-1.
2021 saw the 30-year-old lift silverware in Romania, winning the Sibiu challenger. On his clay-court run, Travaglia dispatched of Rosol, Bondarevskiy, Kolar, and Nagal before sealing the deal with a 7-6(4) 6-2 victory over Kokkankis in the final.
A first ATP main draw of the win for Travaglia will set up a tie with either Kovalik or Bhambri.
Ramanathan v Travaglia Prediction and Tip
Ramanathan is going to have the crowd behind him, however, I do not think this will be enough. It is likely that 8th seed Travaglia will get the win and advance to the next round.
