The Colombian defeated Kicker in Q1 6-1 6-3, but fell short against Jarry 6-4 6-7(3) 7-5. However, a lucky loser spot placed him against Dellien who he defeated 7-5 6-3 in advance to the next round.
The Colombian’s second round was against top-100 Munar, with Galan Riveros coming out on top 6-2 3-6 6-1 to reach the quarters. During the match, Galan Riveros won 69% of points behind the first serve and 67% of points behind the second, compared to just 32% for Munar, a key difference between the two players. Winning 48% of return points and 57% of points throughout the battle, Galan Riveros booked his spot against the top seed in the last-8.
Galan Riveros is coming off lifting silverware at the Concepcion Challenger in Chile, recording victories against Merino, Moreno De Alboran, Carabelli, Dellien before finally defeating Rodriguez Taverna 6-1 3-6 6-3 to lift the trophy in Chile.
