Diego Schwartzman v Jaume Munar Head to Head
Schwartzman leads Munar in their series 3-0, winning their most recent match in the quarterfinals of Buenos Aires in 2021.

Schwartzman Seeks Response After Cordoba Loss
Diego Schwartzman returns to his home city this week and will be looking to expunge the demons that engulfed him in Cordoba.
The perpetually-tough World No. 15 fell to Alejandro Tabilo in the quarterfinals last week, putting pressure on Schwartzman to defend his title in Buenos Aires.
It would be a letdown for Schwartzman in the event he fails to win a title during the Golden Swing or reach at least one final. The 29-year-old was born in Buenos Aires, and knows the city like the back of his hand. So, returning home is something he relishes knowing full well the level of expectation will hit a new high.
Schwartzman’s season has been mediocre, to say the least, despite a promising start at the ATP Cup where he picked victories over the likes of Stefanos Tsitsipas and Nikoloz Basilashvili. But a surprise second-round defeat to Christopher O’Connell gave Schwartzman plenty of thinking to do for nearly two weeks.
And with the South American tennis fraternity hit hard by the news of Del Potro announcing his retirement, the desperate need for a home champion in Buenos Aires is something Schwartzman might need to fulfill.
Having received a first-round bye, the diminutive Argentine opens up against Jaume Munar.

Munar Topples Etcheverry
Jaume Munar did not have the comfort of getting an off-day on Tuesday. The unseeded Spaniard saw off Argentinean qualifier Tomas Martin Etcheverry in straight sets to reach the second round.
Munar, who is a two-time quarterfinalist in Buenos Aires, gave a good account of himself. He fashioned as many as 13 break points against an opponent who was simply in unfamiliar territory. He would break serve three times and tallied 74% first-serve points.
The reward will be a fourth collision against Schwartzman as he chases his first victory over the experienced Argentine. Munar will also be looking to avenge last year’s loss to the defending champion in the quarterfinals stage.
The alumni of the Rafael Nadal academy has improved to 5-4 for the year and is seeking his second quarterfinal of 2022, to go with the one achieved at the Melbourne Summer Set 1 in Australia.
Schwartzman v Munar Prediction and Tip
It’s been a lopsided head-to-head, but Schwartzman is at his most vulnerable right now. He was on the ropes for vast stretches against Daniel Elahi Galan last week in Cordoba before Tabilo bundled him out of the tournament. Munar should at least steal a set, but I expect a swift response by the crowd favorite.
Tip: Schwartzman to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
