Rublev Hoping to Defend Title

Defending champion Andrey Rublev has not seen 2022 get off to the best of starts thus far.

The season began with a bout of Covid-19 causing him to miss the ATP Cup. An indifferent Australian Open followed which ended in a disappointing four set loss to veteran Marin Cilic.

Looking to defend his title in Rotterdam, it has been a good week for the Russian, who will be hoping for a strong run to atone for a less than optimal end to 2021.

Straight set wins against Henri Laaksonen and Kwon Soon-woo set up Rublev for a spot in the quarter-finals against Marton Fucsovics, who met five times last year, including a meeting here in the Rotterdam finals.

Rublev was in prime form and prevailed in straight sets dropping only seven games and setting himself up well for a deep run this weekend.

Auger-Aliassime In Search Of Maiden ATP Title

It has been a promising last six months or so for Canadian youngster Felix Auger- Aliassime.

A run that began with a victory over Roger Federer on the grass courts of Halle remained impressive with quarter-finals at Wimbledon, semi-finals at US Open and in turn noteworthy wins against top ranked opponents.

The season ended with a breakthrough into the top ten of the ATP rankings and 2022 started on the same note leading Canada to a title win at the ATP Cup.

It was a good Aussie Open for Auger-Aliassime but he will rueing the missed opportunity in the quarter-finals where he was up two sets to love against world number two Daniil Medvedev only to let it slip away.

The Canadian has looked in fine nick this week with well constructed wins against veteran Andy Murray and rising British star Cameron Norrie. He will now be hoping he can continue this momentum and that he can do all that he needs for the maiden ATP title that he has missed in many a title round thus far.

Rublev v Auger-Aliassime Prediction and Tip

This promises to be an exciting encounter between the number two and three seeds at the tournament. While Rublev will be looking to defend his title, Auger- Aliassime will continue his search for his maiden ATP title.

It will come down to the better player on the key points, but the Canadian has been in good touch of late and is our pick to prevail in a close three-setter.

Tip: Auger-Aliassime to win in three sets: 4/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
