Maria Irina Bara v Suzane Lamens Head to Head

Maria Irina Bara has seen better days on the Tour as the Romanian player has been slipping for a while. She is now ranked firmly outside of the top 100 when in reality she should be inside. Bara played 15 matches so far this season but a 6-9 record on the year just proves that she’s been slipping.
She’s mainly been playing on clay but even that did not help her in the long term. From time to time she will play a solid match and win it but generally, she’s been losing to players who are both ranked higher and lower. There is very little consistency in her game.
That won’t do her well in Bogota especially since she already played a rather solid match in the first round. If history is any judge she’s in trouble against Lamens.

Breakout Year for Lamens?
Suzane Lamens is a very young tennis player who has been on an absolute tear this year. She’s up to 204 on the rankings and if her strong play continues she will quickly find herself making big strides in the rankings. The player from the Netherlands has played 27 matches so far this year and she is 21-6.
She’s been dominant both on hard courts and on clay but naturally, she’s a bit more comfortable on clay. She only lost one event this year and actually bested her next opponent Bara 6-0 6-0 a month ago. It’s been a wonderful year and she’s destined to continue her strong play.
Bara v Lamens Prediction and Tip
Lamens is on an 8-match winning streak currently that started all the way back in Medellin. She won that event and travelled here playing superbly in the qualifiers. In round 1 she bested Astra Sharma and she is looking to continue that strong run against a player she recently embarrassed.
Bara and Lamens played three weeks ago in Colombia with the Dutch player winning 6-0 6-0. I don’t expect the same score this time around but she is clearly playing much better at the moment. Not only is she playing better but she also has a lot more confidence.
All of that matters and while the experience is on the side of Bara she simply is not playing that good right now. Back Lamens to win this one.
