2022 Copa Colsanitas defending champion Camila Osorio kickstarted her title defence in style with a three-set win over the Swiss Ylena In-Albon and then a 6-3, 7-6(4) victory over Turkey’s İpek Öz.
Playing at her home tournament in Bogota, the top seed has looked quite comfortable as she continues to build her form for the clay swing.
Osorio arrived for the tournament on the back of a decent season; she was the runner-up in Monterrey and a quarterfinalist in Guadalajara. In her last tournament at the BNP Paribas Open, however, the 20-year-old had to retire in the opening match against Aliaksandra Sasnovich due to illness.
The #33-ranked Colombian skipped the Miami Open to recuperate and certainly seems in good spirit and good form.

Avanesyan, Looking to Cause Ripples
19-year-old Elina Avanesyan, who is the current World No. 170, looks well-primed for her breakthrough moment on the WTA Tour.
In Bogota, she has dismissed the likes of Harriet Dart and Lucrezia Stefanini in straight sets to reach the maiden WTA quarterfinal of her career. So far this season, Avanesyan has focussed mainly on the ITF circuit with mixed results; she reached the semifinal and quarterfinal in two events.
That said, if there was ever a time for her to go big on the tour, the clay swing would be it.
Avanesyan has 10 singles ITF finals to her name – all of which came on clay courts; seven of those came in 2021. She has also made it to 15 ITF doubles finals – and again, 13 0f those were on clay.
Osorio v Avanesyan Prediction and Tip
Both players are young and evenly experienced; Osorio may have the slight advantage of having played on the WTA Tour for a much longer time.
That said, Avanesyan has got a much better pedigree on clay and she can very well upset Osorio. This will be a good game – one that can go to three sets.
