Aslan Karatsev v Adrian Mannarino Head to Head

Mannarino leads the H2H 1-0 having faced off this year in the Australian Open R3. Karatsev had appeared to have cramps as he stopped moving around in the fourth set. Mannarino clinched the match in four sets, 7-6(4), 6-7(4), 7-5, 6-4.

Mannarino Searching for his First Win on Clay in Three Years

Mannarino is in a terrible slump, facing 7 continuous first round exits in a row. Of those, the last four have been on clay. He has now lost his last 8 matches in the ATP tour, though he won a Davis Cup encounter against Roberto Quiroz in between that streak.

This poor record on clay in fact stretches back two years. The Frenchman had lost all 7 matches he had played on clay in 2021. He also lost all 3 matches he played on clay in 2020.

Mannarino is 10-13 this year despite starting the season brilliantly. He made Round 3 in the Australian Open, and followed it up with three consecutive quarterfinal appearances in Montpellier, Delray and Dallas.

The world number 71, has a unique game style in which he use uses the pace of his opponents’ shots to redirect and control the point. Since he barely generates any power of his own racket, his game barely stands a chance on clay.

The only positive aspect Mannarino can look forward to is he has beaten Karatsev before and he could find a way to win as Karatsev generates the power of two players in his shots.

Karatsev Seeking to Turn his Season Around

After storming into the ATP Tour in 2020 as a brilliant success story, Aslan Karatsev has slightly lost his way in the last 12 months. He is now 9-11 this year and has managed to only win one match on clay having played five.

Karatsev has played in Lyon once, losing to Jannik Sinner in the first round last year. He actually won the first set 6-0, only to lose 6-0, 3-6, 4-6.

The Russian tennis star, has a game style based on brute power, taking the game out of his opponents’ racket. However, this type of game helps him a lot more on hard/indoor surface than on clay.

Karatsev’s only highlight this year has been winning the Sydney Open in January which was his first tournament of the year. With his participation in the grass season highly unlikely, he will look forward to make things right in the last 2 tournaments on clay this season after which he can regroup for the North American hard court swing.

Mannarino v Karatsev Prediction and Tip

Aslan Karatsev has a much better record on clay and will be seeking revenge for his loss against Mannarino earlier this year. Mannarino who is on the back of 8 defeats, doesn’t have the tools to sustain victory on this surface, and hence Karatsev is a clear favourite.

Tip: Karatsev to win: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
