A quarterfinalist at Wimbledon last year, Viktorija Golubic has found the going tough this season.
The Swiss player was a quarterfinalist in the season opener in Melbourne and reached the Round of 16 in Indian Wells but she hasn’t had much success in the other tournaments and comes to Strasbourg having lost her last four matches. The losing streak began with a second round defeat to Iga Swiatek in Miami.
She faced a shock first round defeat to 20-year-old German Eva Lys in Stuttgart and then lost back-to-back opening matches to Victoria Azarenka in Madrid and Rome.
The 2016 Swiss Open champion, Golubic has three runner-up finishes on the tour. She appeared in two finals last season, but finished second in both Lyon and Monterrey.
With a 0-3 record on clay in 2022, Golubic will be eager to start her Strasbourg campaign on a bright note on Monday.

Morderger Enters Main Draw as Lucky Loser
World No. 374 Yana Morderger defeated the Netherlands’ Indy de Vroome 6-2, 6-4 in the first qualifying round, but was beaten by Russia’s Ekaterina Makarova 7-5, 6-0 in the second qualifying round. Yet she made the main draw in Strasbourg as a lucky loser.
The 25-year-old German, who mostly plays at the ITF level, has a 1-1 record in ITF finals with both the finals being played on clay.
She has found a lot of success as a doubles player at the ITF level, having reached 24 finals and won 10 of them.
