Medvedev Returns From Injury Lay-Off

Daniil Medvedev has had a strong run in the last 12 months winning the 2021 US Open, winning the Cincinnati Masters 1000 and making the finals of the ATP Tour Finals and the Paris Masters.

He also made the final of the Australian Open where he was up two sets to love, but lost an epic thriller to give Rafa Nadal a record 21st major title.

It was not the best of seasons for the Russian thereafter with sub-par showings on the hard court and indoor season.

Medvedev then announced that he had a hernia issue and was out for a while missing most of the clay season as he went through surgery and recovery.

The Russian returned to the tour last week in Geneva and although he lost in a tight opener to French veteran Richard Gasquet, Medvedev did mention how he felt fit and in good touch.

Medvedev was a quarter-finalist last year here in Roland Garros and will be hoping to get going early this week and make the most of a relatively favorable draw.

Can Bagnis Trouble Recovering Medvedev?

Medvedev v Bagnis Prediction and Tip

Clay is Medvedev’s least favorite surface and with him returning from injury having played the one match only in Geneva, he certainly does not feel like a number two seed.

If the Argentine can hit good form on clay, he can trouble the Russian. However, expect Medvedev to come through even if pushed.

The world number two to prevail in straight sets.
