Belinda Bencic is having a very good year and it was somewhat expected after she did what she did last year. Bencic is 19-9 on the year with a 10-2 record on clay with a trophy in Charleston. It’s quite a run from her considering that she doesn’t count it among her strongest surfaces.
The Swiss player is playing with a lot of confidence and she has no reason not to do so. For the most part she’s playing a lot better this year than last year on the surface.
In Madrid, it was Ons Jabeur who proved better which is fine. In Rome, it was Anisimova who proved better which again is not big deal.
Overall Bencic has just been really solid in taking care of the business. She will have a tricky time against Andreescu due to the styles of play but it will be a brilliant match so fans will enjoy it.

Re-Rise of Andreescu
It was only a matter of time before Bianca Andreescu would start her rise again. The Canadian players has just too much talent to remain silent on the tour. Health was her only concern and with that taken care of, Andreescu is ready for a takeoff.
She is 7-3 since returning to tennis with some strong performances. She pushed Iga Swiatek really hard in Rome nearly winning the opening set so that’s something she can build upon. Her round one match against Bonaventure was quite erratic as she nearly lost it.
She rallied and that win should give her calmness about her level moving forward. Bencic proves a tricky challenge but she has all the tools to get it done. Keep reading to see if she will.
Bencic v Andreescu Prediction and Tip
Belinda Bencic and Bianca Andreescu share some similar weaknesses. Both players can play erratic tennis at times spraying a lot of unforced errors. Both can basically play themselves out of a match without much to fall back on if plan A doesn’t work.
That means that this match will most likely be a roller coaster with the momentum shifting often. In that case, I think the smartest play would be to play the over because 3 sets are pretty much guaranteed here. Neither is playing in superb form at the moment but both are solid.
I think I’m leaning more towards Andreescu here because she seemed more solid to me on the red dirt so far. Bencic won Charleston but that’s a different type of clay. She’s been more tested and passed some of those tests while Bencic mostly loses matches she is not playing well.
