Casper Ruud v Emil Ruusuvuori Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two players and Ruud has won them both. The more recent match came in Barcelona earlier this year with Ruud completing a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Ruusuvuori.

Ruud has always relished his time on clay and while he was taken to four sets by the retiring Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, he registered another victory on the surface.
The world number eight, who was coming into this match on the back of a four-match winning streak, registered a 6-7 (6), 7-6 (4), 6-2, 7-6 (0) win over the fighting Tsonga to reach round two.
The match lasted three hours and 49 minutes and saw the two players go neck in neck for most part of the encounter except the third set when Ruud ran away with two breaks of serves.
Tsonga was back to his stodgy self in the fourth set but Ruud finally broke his resistance in the tie-breaker that followed, bagelling him in it to enter the second.
A win here will take him to the third round for the fourth year in running at Roland-Garros. Ruud would like to do a lot more than that though given his record on red dirt.

Ruusuvuori Stalls Three-Match Losing Streak
Ruusuvuori’s form on clay looked to have been shaping quite well for someone ranked 61st in the world but he had then fallen to three successive defeats in a row including a qualifier loss in Rome.
Which is why, to come back from two sets to one down in his opener here and win it in five against local lad Ugo Humbert was a big tick to the fighting qualities of Ruusuvuori as he heads into a bigger challenge here.
The Finnish player won 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4, 6-2 in a match that went on for three hours and 48 minutes, with Humbert managing to break his opponent four times. Ruusuvuori ensured he had the last laugh though with seven breaks of serves in the encounter.
What Ruusuvuori would like is to bring down the 48 unforced errors that came off his racquet against Humbert when he takes on Ruud. Can he, however, still challenge the Norwegian player?

Ruud will be a heavy favourite here and we can expect him to wrap this up in straight sets.
