Alexander Bublik v Denis Kudla Head to Head

They played once before in 2018. Kudla won at the Surbiton Challenger 3-6 7-6(5) 6-1.

Bublik Back On Grass

Alexander Bublik had a very bad clay season but that was to be expected. He made it very clear he doesn’t enjoy the surface and he could not wait to be on the grass.

Well, it’s time as he will get his grass season underway in Stuttgart. Bublik had plenty of time to rest up and prepare for this event having lost in Paris over a week ago. It concluded a brought stretch for him on clay where he went 2-6. It’s been a pretty solid season for him outside of that.

He will welcome the change to grass as he can utilize his powerful serve very well. The points will be short which is another bonus for him as he likes it that way. Bublik went 7-4 on the surface last year with his best outing coming in Newport where he reached a semifinal.

He played twice in Stuttgart but never made it past qualifiers. Now, with a strong ranking he got into the main draw. How far can he go remains to be seen.

Great Start On Grass For Kudla

At the time of this writing, Denis Kudla is preparing to play in the Surbiton challenger final. It’s a grass event in the UK where Kudla traditionally begins his grass season. The American loves to play on this surface and has played well on it for years.

He went 12-4 last year and that’s just one of several double-digit wins seasons for Kudla on grass. He took down Andy Murray in Surbiton among other things once again showcasing that high comfort level on the surface. With strong play earlier in the year, Kudla got a chance to enter some main draw events and he will try to earn many points.

He is defending quite a few points from Wimbledon last year reaching the 3rd round and he needs to retain some of the to keep himself in he top 100. This year has been pretty good for the American with a 20-15 record.

His play on native soil was particularly strong but now it’s time to extend that to European grass. Bublik is a familiar face and one he defeated earlier on grass. He can certainly do it again, especially with some confidence from Surbiton.

Bublik v Kudla Prediction and Tip

They played a couple of years ago on the grass with Kudla winning that match. I could see something similar happening again because the American will try for sure. He can be very tricky to play against with solid play overall and quite the ability to go the distance.

He will try and keep the rallies longer to force Bublik to do something unpredictable. A lot will depend on the serve and if Bublik has a bad day serving there will be a chance. Kudla will be fatigued after a long week in Surbiton but if he can move past that fatigue he might keep it close. Bublik is the better player but you just never know with him.

The thing that’s fairly certain is that it will be a close match. So take the over if you can but as far as the winner goes, you probably should back Bublik.

Tip: Bublik to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
