Marino takes part in the Nottingham tournament for the first time. This will be her first match on grass since 2011.
The Canadian last played in Roland Garros where she blazed through the qualifiers without dropping a set to reach the main draw. She lost to eventual runner up Cori Gauff in the first round.
Marino had also reached the first round of the Australian Open as a qualifier. She then chose to play at the ITF level for the next couple of months to gain match confidence. She ended the hard court season with an impressive record of 21-6.
Marino has a very big serve, and lower ranked players have trouble getting into her service games. Her game is actually well suited for the grass and she could spring a few surprises in this swing.

Qualifier Silva Through to Main Draw
26 year old Eden Silva had to win two grueling qualifiers to play in the main draw. She beat both Asia Muhammad and Sarah Beth Grey in three sets.
Silva is currently enjoying a career high ranking of 343. Making it to the main draw is a big deal for her as this only the second time she has made it to the main draw in 5 attempts.
The British player has a very poor record on grass in her career. However she is 4-1 on grass this season as she also won two qualifiers in an ITF tournament last week.

Despite this being a rare appearance on grass for Marino, her serve is very big and Silva is not used to facing such a big serve. Marino should be able to dominate the game on serve and will definitely get break chances to convert.
