Magda Linette v Katarzyna Kawa live Head to Head
Linette leads 3-0, last beating her compatriot in the 2021 WTA Ostrava in straight sets.

Katarzyna Kawa, currently ranked World No. 129, is set to compete in her first WTA main-draw match since August last year.
The 29-year-old then played in the Winners Open in Cluj-Napoca where she fell in round two to Kristyna Pliskova. Since then, Kawa has played in a bunch of ITF events and Grand Slams and WTA tournaments, with success coming only in the former.
In the latter, Kawa couldn’t quite make it past the qualifying stages. As a result, her tally for 2022 stands at an unimpressive 4-7 with her sole highlight being her runner-up feat in ITF Bonita Springs. She last played in the French Open where she lost her opening qualifying match to the Czech teenager Linda Fruhvirtova.
Katarzyna has had better luck on the doubles circuit as she bagged her second WTA Challenger final in Marbella with Vivian Heisen.
Here in Nottingham, the qualifier dismissed Kimberly Birrell and Jana Fett to set up the clash with Linette.

Linette, Looking far Better than Kawa
Although Magda Linette’s ongoing record of 15-14 does not do much when compared to the big guns in the bracket, the number eight seed is still in a much better position than Kawa.
The world number 67 enjoyed a decent clay swing comprising a quarterfinal appearance in Strasbourg, Charleston, and Saint-Malo, and a round two stint in Roland Garros. Although she lost to the eventual semifinalist Martina Trevisan, it wasn’t before she stunned the new world number four Ons Jabeur in the opening match in three demanding sets.
Similarly, in Charleston, the veteran Pole defeated the likes of Leylah Fernandez and Kaia Kanepi to mark her best showing of 2022.
While Linette has not fared that well in Nottingham (best result round of 16), she has a decent chance this season to reach the quarterfinal at the very least.
Linette v Kawa Prediction and Tip
Linette holds all the cards here; she has the momentum, experience, and a huge psychological advantage to bag this one comfortably. Kawa may put up a fight but that may not be enough to halt Linette’s campaign.
