Hubert Hurkacz v Marton Fucsovics Head to Head

They played twice before and Fucsovics won both times. The most recent one came in 2018 in Cincinnati.

Wimbledon Preparation Start for Hurkacz

After enduring the clay season and doing quite well, Hubert Hurkacz finally gets to play some grass tennis. He had a memorable Wimbledon last year beating both Roger Federer and Daniil Medvedev in back-to-back matches.

He ultimately lost to Matteo Berrettini but the overall level he showed on the surface was superb. Everything is centred around his serve and it’s not as powerful as some but it’s very precise. That’s his main strength, his shots are not that strong but very precise.

He’s also not shy going to the net and his 198 cm frame certainly helps. Hurkacz simply has a very good game for grass and he had that Wimbledon with very few prep matches. In Stuttgart he’ll look for quite a few and he has a solid chance against Fucsovics who is also a very good grass player.

Overall it’s been a good season for Hubert with a 23-10 record with the 9-4 particularly impressive. He barely had any wins on the surface last year so it’s clear he is progressing.

Barely a Win for Fuscovics in Round One

Marton Fucsovics will drop out of the top 100 once the Wimbledon points drop as he reached the quarterfinal last year. He can play superbly well on grass and generally does making this a really good matchup.

There was quite a bit of trouble in his first match in Stuttgart. The venue and event are not foreign to him as he reached the quarterfinal here in 2019. Last year was a first-round exit and he barely avoided that this year as well. He faced a qualifier in Rodionov who has a powerful serve and it gave him trouble.

It was a closely competitive match with many of those in Stuttgart traditionally. The Austrian took the first set in a tight tiebreak. From there he was able to finally find some solutions and Rodionov failed to keep up his high level of play. Marton won the 2nd set with 6-3 and the final one with 6-4 to move on.

Things won’t get easier in the next round with Hurkacz waiting but Fuscovics has a really good score against him so maybe he can pull it off. Keep reading to find out.

Hurkacz v Fucsovics Prediction and Tip

So they played twice so far and both matches were won by the Hungarian. It’s quite interesting but both of those matches came on hard courts as well. The only obvious thing is that they happened over four years ago and since then Hurkacz is far better.

He’s also the better player currently and played better so far this season. I’d argue he’s also the better grass player but I don’t think this will be anything but a close affair. Two tiebreaks would not surprise but I do think Hurkacz should be able to get the win.

His serve and consistency is far superior to that of Fucsovics.

Tip: Hurkacz to win in straight sets: 10/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
