Karen Khachanov v Kamil Majchrzak Head to Head

The pair have played each other twice before, with both meetings coming on clay, and Khachanov winning each time.

He won in the first round of the French Open in 2020, and again in the round of 16 in Lyon last year.

Khachanov Wants the Ranking Points on Offer

Despite the fact that he will not be allowed to enter Wimbledon this year because of his nationality, there are still valuable ranking points on offer in Rosmalen for Khachanov.

And, after a good clay court season, which culminated in yet another fourth round appearance at Roland Garros, Khachanov will be keen to sustain his recent momentum.

Certainly he was barely troubled in his opening round match by Alejandro Tabilo of Chile, the world number 82, in their opening round match on Tuesday.

Tabilo, a man much happier on clay, struggled on serve, and had already saved several break points by the time he was broken midway through the first set. He had a chance to break back, failed to take it, and was made to pay when he was broken again next game, handing Khachanov the first set.

When he was broken early in the second set, things looked bleak for the man from Chile. He gave himself hope when he broke back straight away, but parity did not last long as he soon dropped his serve again, this time to love.

From there, Khachanov was able to consolidate his lead and close out the match.

Majchrzak Eases into Round Two

Although he has only made the main draw of Wimbledon once before, Majchrzak, who is the Polish number two behind Hubert Hurkasz, is not a complete novice on grass.

Last year he reached the final of the Challenger tournament in Nottingham, before losing to the Australian Alex Bolt, in three sets.

And he began his campaign in the Netherlands in confident style with a comfortable straight sets victory over Dominik Koepfer of Germany, in a match that started on Monday night, but whose conclusion had to be delayed until Tuesday after the light faded.

Two breaks of serve gave the Pole the first set, with the world number 96 struggling to deal with his serve.

Koepfer saved break points in the opening game of the second set, but it proved to be a temporary reprieve. Four games later he was broken again, and Majchrzak went on to complete the victory without ever facing a break point on his own serve.

Khachanov v Majchrzak Prediction and Tip

Although they have never played on grass before, Khachanov has won both their two previous matches in straight sets, and will be favourite to win again.
