Ekaterina Alexandrova v Caty McNally Head to Head

They played once before and McNally won that match. It was at the 2020 US Open.

Alexandrova Strong On Grass Again

Ekaterina Alexandrova has always been a very solid player but the Russian never quite found the consistency needed for some big results. She found it this year and she’s playing a very strong season so far. 19-11 is the score with some impressive wins on clay particularly.

The Russian has an attacking game with very strong groundstrokes and she played well on grass last season as well. Den Bosch is not unfamiliar for her as she played in the quarterfinal here before. She will have a chance to go further this year but she needs to keep up her strong play.

She eased past Anhelina Kalinina in two sets in about 70 minutes. She was great as she dominated on her serve. She faced all 5 break points while converting 3 of 7 she had. All day long she attacked Kalinina on her 2nd serve and that’s a blueprint she will use against McNally as well.

Overall she’s been having a very good event and she will like her chances in this one as well.

McNally the Grass Expert

Caty McNally is a very young tennis player who has had the most success in doubles playing with Coco Gauff. She can play singles well as well but it will be some time before she gets the big break she works for. Unless it’s grass, of course, she’s been a pro on that surface for a long time.

McNally has a 18-6 record on the surface in her career and it’s not a surprise. The same skill that allows her to be an excellent doubles player work on grass as well. A good serve, good volleying and great movement. She thrashes Tamara Zidansek 6-1 6-1 in the previous round.

The Slovenian is a clay expert and doesn’t do well on grass anyway but the display was superb. She can certainly do that again against Alexandrova as she already bested her once before. It came at the US Open so there is certainly something in the matchup she can exploit.

She won four matches already here as she came through the qualifiers to the comfort level is high. The confidence isn’t lacking as well so she should fancy herself in this matchup as well.

Alexandrova v McNally Prediction and Tip

There is no question that Alexandrova is the better player overall. She is certainly far more consistent, especially this season. It’s something that should work well in this matchup yet I really like McNally in this spot. She is playing well, she is feeling confident and I’m sure she will want this win more.

This event could serve her as the big break she needed and with a chance to book the semifinal she will be motivated. I like her grass game a lot so I’ll back her to create the upset here. There is a lot of value in siding with her against Alexandrova.

Tip: McNally to win: 11/10 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
