Aryna Sabalenka v Ekaterina Alexandrova Head to Head

They are 2-2 from their previous meetings, with  Alexandrova winning their previous meeting in Moscow in 2021.

All their matches have been decided in straight sets, and this will be their first meeting on grass.

Sabalenka Sees Off Rogers

Top seed Aryna Sabalenka overcame a tough start to see off America’s Shelby Rogers and march into a second final of the season.

The World no. 6 saved a set point in the first set tiebreak before taking control of the match. She won the last three points of the tiebreak to seal the opening set and then bagelled her opponent in the second to earn a 7-6 (8-6), 6-0 victory.

While both players broke each other twice in the first set, it was Sabalenka who converted half of the six break points that she held in the second, while Rogers couldn’t convert either of her two breaking opportunities.

With the win Sabalenka will now be contesting in her 17th career final. She has won 10 and finished runner-up on six occasions. Her only appearance in a title clash this year ended with a straight sets defeat to Iga Swiatek in Stuttgart.

A semifinalist at Wimbledon last year, Sabalenka had reached her maiden grass court final in Eastbourne in 2018, only to finish runner-up. Can she win her first title on the surface on Sunday?

Her run to a second grass-court final this week also includes straights wins over Kateryna Baindl and Arianne Hartono and a three-set victory over Alison Van Uytvanck in the quarterfinals.

Alexandrova Dispatches Kudermetova

Ekaterina Alexandrova stormed into her first grass court final with a convincing straight sets win over Veronika Kudermetova in the semifinals on Saturday.

Serving well throughout the contest, the World no. 30 served six aces, dropped just five points on her first serve and saved three of four break points. She also had six opportunities to break Kudermetova in the match and she took five of them to win the one-hour-and-17-minute contest 6-3, 6-1.

The win over the sixth seed was Alexandrova’s third consecutive straight sets win. After scoring a three-set comeback win over Dayana Yastremska in the opener, the 27-year-old Russian defeated another Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina 6-4, 6-2 and then handed Caty McNaly a 6-0, 6-1 drubbing in the quarterfinals.

This is the fourth time that Alexandrova has reached a WTA final and a first since finishing runner-up at the Kremlin Cup last year. On Sunday, she will be looking to add to her only WTA title that she won in Shenzhen in 2020.

Sabalenka v Alexandrova Prediction and Tip

Sabalenka has a superior record on grass and her big match experience should come in handy against Alexandrova. The Belarusian should win her first title of the year.
