Horror Exit in Den Bosch for Botic

Botic van de Zandschulp was expected to make a big run back home in Den Bosch yet it was another Dutch player who stole the spotlight. Native fans didn’t mind but it was a shocking exit for him at his home event. It’s even worse if you consider that van de Zandschulp actually won the opening set before completely folding in the next two.

Well, he’s in London to try and do it better here and it’s a very tricky affair in the first match. The Dutch player debuted a top 30 ranking recently and he’s been having a fairly good year 19-14 with some strong play on clay in recent weeks. Whether that translated to grass remains the question but he’s not been that good on it in years past.

It’s a negative record on the surface for him and with that recent outing in Den Bosch it doesn’t look terribly optimistic. He will need to serve well because when his serve stopped against Emil Ruusuvuori last week, his game stopped as well.

If he can keep up the serving and keep his opponent from chances he will have a good chance of winning this one.

Strong Qualifiers for Jubb

Paul Jubb is one of those young guns coming from the UK who hopes to make his mark in the tennis world. It’s been a tricky journey into the main draw for him so far but he’s proved quite resilient.

Jubb won against James Duckworth in the first qualifying match and then bested Steve Johnson in the 2nd and those are seasoned vets with a solid level of tennis. It’s clear that the youngster has some talent in his game and playing on the grass at home with the crowd could be all he needs.

Getting this opponent in this spot is sort of ideal for him because not only is his opponent struggling a bit, but he’s also not that good on grass, to begin with. This is a matchup where Jubb should and probably will fancy his chances especially with the native crowd backing him.

He’s having a fairly solid year on the challenger tour 20-10 and now he has a chance to show that he belongs on the ATP tour as well.

van de Zandschulp v Jubb Prediction and Tip

So I’m going to go with the upset here because I see tremendous value in this play. I think Jubb is fairly solid on grass, he’s proven in the past weeks and in the qualifiers here. I think he will feel really motivated to get this win, even more so with the recent struggles of his opponent.

I just think it’s the perfect storm for an upset so I’ll see if unfolds that way.

Tip: Jubb to win: 17/10 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
