Daria Kasatkina v Ekaterina Alexandrova Head to Head

Ekaterina Alexandrova arrived in Berlin on the back of her first grass title. Playing in the Rosmalen Open, she had a wonderful week where she defeated the likes of Dayana Yastremska, Catherine McNally, Veronika Kudermetova, and Aryna Sabalenka to lift the trophy.
In fact, that win over Sabalenka was one of her most clinical wins as she dispatched the Belarusian with 7-5, 6-0. With that, Ekaterina bagged her second career title and the first one since 2020.
The 27-year-old has had an erratic year albeit, she has had her moments. Most notably, the current world number 27 reached the semifinal in Madrid Open (as a qualifier) and Charleston.
Alexandrova has also got a decent grass pedigree – she reached the quarterfinal here in Berlin last year while in 2019, she was one of the elite eight in Eastbourne.
She is certainly off to a decent start this week as she upset Maryna Zanevska 6-3, 6-4.

Kasatkina Survives Kalinina
Daria Kasatkina started her grass swing this week with a three-set win over Anhelina Kalinina. After losing the first set, she staged a comeback and took the match 5-7, 6-3, 6-1.
The number six seed had a remarkable clay swing and will hope to keep the same tempo moving forward. Daria reached the semifinal in a couple of big events – notably the Italian Open and French Open. On the back of these results, she moved up to the No. 12 spot in the ranking.
Kasatkina was also the runner-up in the Birmingham Classic last season – which only adds to her grass form. Compared to Alexandrova, she has also got a much superior pedigree and a better track record on the WTA Tour.
That said, her tally as of Tuesday stands at 24-11 which is not all that different than her opponent’s 23-11.
Kasatkina v Alexandrova Prediction and Tip
This match can swing either way; they are well-matched and are in a good form. Alexandrova has the edge owing to her recent momentum but Kasatkina can negate it with her top-tier experience. With no Wimbledon crown at stake, both players will hope for a deep run here.
All in all, we can expect some quality tennis that can go the distance.
