Amanda Anisimova v Alison van Uytvanck Head to Head

There has only been one previous meeting between these two players and that came in Melbourne earlier this year. While Anisimova won that match, it took her three sets to get past her opponent in that one.

Anisimova Inexperienced on Grass

It’s week three of grass court competitions for the season and Anisimova is playing in only her first match on this surface in 2022. And that trend can be seen in her career as well, where the American has featured in a mere 10 grass court matches all life.

She is no mug though, having reached the quarterfinal of this very competition last year but what would rankle her is her performance in the other tournaments she featured on grass in 2022. Anisimova was bundled out in the opening round at both of them.

This year, overall, Anisimova has had a top start so far. It began with a tournament win in Melbourne where she defeated van Uytvanck in the opener and then saw her reach the fourth round at Australian Open.

A semifinal appearance on the clay courts of Charleston was another feature of her season so far and Anisimova then won three successive matches at each of Madrid Open, Italian Open and French Open.

Can she tick all the right boxes on grass too?

Van Uytvanck Growing on Grass

Till the start of the previous season, van Uytvanck’s form on grass was anything but spectacular. A title win on the ITF circuit last year, at Nottingham, looked to have changed things around for the Belgian.

van Uytvanck followed that up with another tournament victory in Surbiton, again on the ITF circuit, before she reached the quarterfinal at the Rosmalen last week. In getting there, she got the better of Elise Mertens, a favourite going into that second round match.

This week, van Uytvanck has already reached the semifinal with three successive straight-set wins at the WTA Gaiba event, a part of the WTA125 series, and is looking good to capture that title.

With that kind of form, van Uytvanck could even hold the edge against Anisimova, given her opponent’s lack of grass court experience.

Anisimova v van Uytvanck Prediction and Tip

Anisimova is the higher-ranked player and overall has shown solid form all year but on grass there’s not much to choose between the two. Van Uytvanck could edge the American out here.

Tip: van Uytvanck to win: 11/10 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
