Aslan Karatsev v Jaume Munar Head to Head
The pair have played each other twice before, on outside hard courts in Grand Slam events.
Karatsev won in four sets at last year’s US Open, and in five at the Australian Open in January.

2021 was really Karatsev’s breakthrough year on tour, with him reaching three ATP finals and winning two of them.
That sequence continued into January of this year with victory at the Sydney International in January.
Since then, though, results have become a little harder to achieve, and his ranking has regressed.
One of those players forced to sit out Wimbledon this year, he would not have backed himself to do well there anyway. His one appearance in the main draw came last year, and he lost in the first round.
Nor has he had any success on grass this year either. He failed to qualify in Stuttgart, and was beaten in the first round in Halle by compatriot, Karen Khachanov.

Spanish Wildcard Munar
Munar has been granted a wildcard into this event, although it no doubt helps that one of the organisers is his compatriot Feliciano Lopez.
Last year he reached his first ATP finals in both singles and doubles, finishing runner-up in both Chile and Andalucía in successive months.
His Wimbledon record is no better than Karatsev’s, and he has never won a match there in three previous visits.
This will be his first match of the season on grass, but he comes to Mallorca full of confidence. He has just won a clay court tournament in Italy on the Challenger circuit, beating the Argentine, Tomas Martin Etcheverry, in last Sunday’s final.
Karatsev v Munar Prediction and Tip
With neither man having a record of any success on grass, it is difficult to pick a winner. Karatsev is the higher ranked and Munar has had to rely on a wildcard to gain admission, but the Spaniard has home court advantage, and that may just make the difference.
