Reilly Opelka v Maxime Cressy Head to Head

Reilly Opelka is not a great grass player and it’s mostly related to the fact that the ball bounces so low and he needs to bend oftentimes making it very hard to hit the ball the way he needs to hit it. He is 6-12 all-time on the surface and 0-1 this season.
His lone match on grass came in Queen’s last week and it was a fairly convincing defeat to Alex de Minaur who had no issues in that match. Opelka is tall and he can play on the net after hitting a good serve but he’s never been quite comfortable doing that.
He might improve in the future because there is no reason he can’t be decent on the surface. Ivo Karlovic was so he can be rather strong on it as well. There is plenty of talent there although it’s been somewhat of a lacklustre year so far with a 19-12 score.
Cressy is a measure opponent and one he can definitely beat so there is a very solid chance for him to win that match. It would be a good confidence builder for Wimbledon.

Cressy Looking For Wins
Maxime Cressy has played a couple of grass matches his year and he’s been pretty okay. He’s still not won many matches on the surface this year with only two matches. They both came in the Halle qualifiers. In Stuttgart, he lost to Dominic Sticker.
In the Halle main draw, it was Hubert Hurkacz who beat him and he reached the final of that event. It was a close affair that went to three sets but the Polish player got the win in the end. Pretty much most of the matches Cressy played have been fairly competitive and close.
He’s a bit shorter than Opelka but still quite tall. Some of the problems Opelka faces on grass, he has them as well. He’s a bit more comfortable on it but historically and this year. It’s also been a fairly solid year for him with 18-17 on the year.
I think he can win this matchup having played four matches on grass already with two wins. It will be tricky but he’s done it in Australia earlier this year so why not.
Opelka v Cressy Prediction and Tip
Reilly Opelka and Maxime Cressy will most likely play a very close match on grass but it’s kind of hard predicting which one will one. I could see either winning although I’m leaning towards Cressy a little bit. He showed a high level on grass recently, he played better than Opelka and he looks more comfortable on the surface.
I think Opelka will try more at Wimbledon but I could see him dropping this one. I think the better value is on Cressy in this one.
