World No. 21 Elena Rybakina hasn’t had the best of the time on the tour of late. Although her tally stands at an impressive 21-11, most of those wins came on early in the season.
Her first few months were quite good; she was the runner-up in Adelaide 500 and later reached the quarterfinal in the Indian Wells Open. However, there was also a brief period between the two events where she withdrew from the tournaments citing injury concerns.
With fitness in the back of her mind, the young Kazakh went into the clay swing with keeping the tempo. The best she could do was consistently reach the mid-rounds in Madrid, Rome, and the French Open – in the first two, she lost to Jil Teichmann while in Paris, she bowed out to Madison Keys.
Rybakina commenced her grass season in the Libema Open where she lost to Shelby Rogers in round two.
As a former World No. 12 with eight finals to her name, ninth-seeded Elena has the skillset needed to excel in Eastbourne.

Tsurenko Upsets Osorio
Lesia Tsurenko started her campaign in the tournament as a qualifier, upsetting Kimberly Birrell and Heather Watson to reach the main draw.
In the opening match, she defeated Camila Osorio and piled on her to woeful grass season with a 7-5, 7-6(2) victory.
Now ranking World No. 114, the 33-year-old Ukrainian hasn’t had the best of the year so far. Almost all of her victories have come in the qualifying rounds. In other words, Lesia never made it past the opening-round main draw fixture in any tournament except the Istanbul Cup (round two loss to Ajla Tomljanovic).
In French Open, she fell to Iga Swiatek in the opener while in Birmingham last week, she was downed by Simona Halep 1-6, 4-6.
Rybakina v Tsurenko Prediction and Tip
Rybakina has got a good opportunity here to build some momentum and bag a win. Tsurenko, although experienced, will do her part to make things difficult for her adversary but in the end, it may not be enough.
