Anisimova Coming Off a Good Run

World No. 25 Amanda Anisimova has enjoyed a good spell so far as she now looks to cap the grass swing on a positive note.

Her tally now stands at 25-9; the 20-year-old most recently reached the quarterfinal in Bad Homburg before losing to Simona Halep. That was also her sole preparation for the Wimboedon.

Nonetheless, Amanda has been wonderfully consistent through the year having won at least two matches in all but four tournaments this season. She also picked her first singles title in 2019 in Melbourne and followed it with a fourth-round run in the Australian Open.

Anisimova made it to the same stage in Paris after knocking out Naomi Osaka in the opener. Wang, compared to the Japanese, has still got ways to go so on paper, so this match shouldn’t be too difficult for the American.

Wang, at a New Career High

Xinyu Wang is now World No. 71 – a first for her as she now seeks to capitalise on her recent gains.

Of course, her campaign hasn’t been as illustrious as Anisimova’s with an ITF event in Spain marking the only time she delivered a deep run in a tournament (she moved on the win the title).

However, she did reach the round of 16 in the Bett1Open after beating Ekaterina Kazionova, Anna-Lena Friedsam, and Tamara Korpatsch in the preliminary matches. Wang has had some practice on the surface but quality-wise, she falls behind.

Anisimova v Wang Prediction and Tip

Anisimova is the heavy favourite here and she should do well to win this one. Wang, in all her runs in majors, has won her opening fixture just once.

The potential for an upset is relatively low here but if you are keen on taking a risk, backing this to be a long match may not be the worst move to make.

Wang can put up a fight – provided she starts with a calm mind and doesn’t let the pressure of playing at SW19 get to her.

Tip: Anisimova to win: 3/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
