Kanepi Searching for Form in London

Kaia Kanepi has an extremely good record in Grand Slams and Master tournaments in the past two years. She reached the quarterfinal of the Australian Open in earlier this January.

The 37 year old has been aging like fine wine and is breaking new records in her career when most other players at this age opt to retire.

Kanepi played in Berlin and Eastbourne in order to prepare for the Wimbledon Championships. After winning the first set tie break against Karolina Pliskova in Berlin, she completely lost her serve and couldn’t win a single game after the first set.

In Eastbourne, the Estonian beat Nuria Parrizas-Diaz in the first round but could not get past in form player Beatriz Haddad Maia in the second round.  She will be hopeful she can find form on grass timely.

Kanepi reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon back in 2010 and 2013, but over her career her grass record has not been laudable.

Parry Rocketing Through Rankings

Diane Parry started the year ranked 115. She now will take part in the Wimbledon for the first time in her career and she will do so with a career high rank of 77.

The 19 year old was one of the success stories at the Roland Garros last month. She defeated former French Open champion Barbora Krejicikova in the first round and made a run till the third round.

Parry has a very admiring one handed backhand style. She has been a highly rated player by the French Tennis Federation since a young teen and was given a wildcard into the French Open when she was only 16 years of age.

The French youngster has a very good game suited for grass because of her slice and ability to play passing shots at ease.

She reached the semifinals of the new grass tournament in Gaiba, Italy the previous week. That was actually her first tournament on grass in her young career.

Kanepi v Parry Prediction and Tip

Kanepi may have reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon a decade ago, she is currently not at her very best and Parry has been playing her best level in recent weeks. The chances of an upset victory are very high.
