Jiri Lehecka v Tomas Martin Etcheverry Head to Head
78th-ranked Etcheverry defeated Lehecka in their sole meeting to date at the Santiago Challenger in March this season.

Lehecka Reaches Career-High
Despite defeat in the quarterfinals of the Iasi Challenger, Jiri Lehecka managed to attain a career-high ranking of No. 70 and squeaked into the main draw of Gstaad.
Lehecka has a horror draw by the looks of things, with a tough opener against Etcheverry to begin with. Should he scale that hurdle, then the top seed and Roland Garros finalist Casper Ruud awaits.
The 20-year-old has made up 11 places in the Race to Milan and currently sits in sixth place in that list among the best eight players from the ATP’s new generation.
Wimbledon’s decision not to offer ranking points has probably been a blessing in disguise for Lehecka who lost in the first round of the tournament, but still reached a career-high ranking, largely due to his peers dropping points. The Czech has not quite managed to replicate the brilliant year he put together in 2021, where he won two Challenger titles.
His breakthrough in the main tour came in Rotterdam earlier this year when he reached the semifinals as a qualifier.

Etcheverry Seeking Rare Tour-Level Win
Tomas Martin Etcheverry is a solid clay-courter on the ATP’s second tier, winning three Challenger titles in his career thus far long with a multitude of semifinal and runner-up finishes.
Etcheverry has been slow in making such an impact on the main tour where he has only managed to pick up two main draw wins from 12 matches. As a consequence, he has been overtaken by the likes of Lehecka.
His record outside clay also makes for grim reading which partly explains why it has taken him quite a while to break the top 100. But Etcheverry will be looking to add to his two wins when appears in Gstaad for the first time.
Last week the 22-year-old qualified for the ATP tournament in Bastad but was well beaten by Albert Ramos Vinolas in the first round.
Lehecka v Etcheverry Prediction and Tip
Etcheverry has played clay court tennis for most of his career. And for a man of his size, he has the ammunition of a very powerful serve which is a welcome addition to earn free points, especially on clay. This is a rare opportunity to pick up a valuable win on the ATP tour and I expect him to do that.
