Albert Ramos-Vinolas v Nicolas Jarry Head to Head

In the main draw of ATP competitions, these two have faced off twice and Jarry had won both those encounters, interestingly both on clay. Those two matches came in 2018.

That very year they played each other in the qualifiers of the Paris Masters as well and Ramos-Vinolas took that one in straight sets on a indoor hard court surface.

Ramos-Vinolas Hoping to Improve Clay Form

Ramos-Vinolas is an out and out clay court player and in more recent times has focussed all his energies on the red dirt.

Which is why a performance such as the one he has found himself at the receiving end of, which saw him three successive first round exits at Madrid, Rome and Geneva, wouldn’t have gone down too well with the Spaniard.

He went on to reach the second round at French Open where he gave Carlos Alcaraz a bit of a run, but another second round loss at Bastad continued his poor form.

A first round bye here was followed by a difficult second round victory, with Ramos-Vinolas needing three sets to get past Dominik Stricker. He won 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 to make it to the last eight and another win here will give him his first set of successive victories since April this year.

Jarry Downs Hanfmann

A qualifier who made it to the main draw with a couple of victories, Jarry has now reached his first ATP quarterfinal of the season with two wins here.

Having needed three gruelling tie-breakers to eke out a shock win over Thiago Monteiro in the first round, Jarry registered a straight-set win over Yannick Hanfmann in the second.

That, however, wasn’t without its share of drama either as Jarry needed a further couple of tie-breakers for him to carve out that win. That made it five successive tie-breakers for Jarry, four of which he has gone on to win.

And with Ramos-Vinolas having had his own struggles in recent times, Jarry will have some more confidence than usual against a player ranked nearly 60 places ahead of him.

Ramos-Vinolas v Jarry Prediction and Tip

While Ramos-Vinolas is a favourite here, we won’t put it beyond Jarry to cause an upset. Backing the Chilean player to get one more under his belt against the Spaniard.

Tip: Jarry to win: 1/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
