Bondar is Now Hungarian Number One

Bondar has had a dramatic rise in the past 18 months in terms of world rankings. Having languished in the lower reaches of the 200s for several years, she broke into the top 100 for the first time at the end of 2021, and has continue to rise this year.

She begins this tournament at her highest ever ranking and has also become the Hungarian number one in the process.

Her progress is largely attributable to her form on clay. She won her first Challenger event in Argentina last November, and has just reached the final of the doubles event in Palermo.

She also reached the quarter-finals of the singles there and, prior to that, was a semi-finalist at her home event in Budapest.

Multiple Grand Slam Doubles Champion Mlaenovic

Mladenovic is better known as a doubles player. A former world number one, she and partner Caroline Garcia won the French Open title in June. That was their third Grand Slam final together, and they also won in Roland Garros in 2016.

In all she has won six women’s and three mixed doubles Grand Slam titles.

Singles-wise, she did win the St Petersburg Trophy in 2017, and was ranked as high as ten in the world at that time.

However, these days her singles career has taken something of a backseat, and she spends her time alternating between the main and ITF tour.

She has lost her last seven matches in all competitions.

Bondar v Mladenovic Prediction and Tip

Bondar should have little difficulty beating a woman who, nowadays, is much happier when she has a partner alongside her on the doubles court, and has lost her last seven singles matches.

Tip: Bondar to win: 3/10 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
