Paula Badosa v Cori Gauff Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two players and both have won one apiece.
Badosa clinched their first match which came at the 2021 Indian Wells Open but earlier this year it was Gauff who made it one apiece with a pre-quarterfinal win in Doha.

Badosa Hobbles Past Mandlik
While she was returning from a a month-long break of having not played since her fourth round appearance at Wimbledon, Badosa would have been expected to do a lot better than she did in her second round match against Elizabeth Mandlik.
Coming up against a player ranked 240th in the world, Badosa needed a final set tie-breaker and two hours and 33 minutes to finally win the match.
Badosa overcame two Mandlik opportunities to serve for the match before moving into the last eight stage with a 6-2, 5-7, 7-6 (5) victory.
Things looked to be headed to plan for the 1/5 favourite when Badosa shrugged off an early break of serve to break her opponent three times in four games and grab the first set.
In a stunning turn of events, however, Badosa was broken in the 11th game of the second set and then saw Mandlik get chances to serve it out at 4-5 and 5-6 in the final set. A fighting Badosa broke back each time before taking the match in the tie-breaker.
She will need to do a lot better against an in-form Gauff here.

Gauff Quells Osaka Comeback
Gauff lived up to her favourite billing in her second round match against multiple-time Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka but had to then stall her opponent’s comeback to complete a straight-set win.
The American, who had reached the final of the French Open earlier this year, overcame Osaka 6-4, 6-4 in an hour and 29 minutes to move into the quarterfinals.
Having earlier crushed Anhelina Kalinina 6-1, 6-1, Gauff built up a 6-4, 5-1 lead against Osaka and then had three match-points off her opponent’s serve. Osaka fought back to not just win that game but also broke Gauff and held again to push it to 5-4.
Gauff, who had frittered away seven match-points by this time, then served it out in the 10th game to clinch the victory.
Badosa v Gauff Prediction and Tip
Badosa might be the higher-ranked player but Gauff’s solidity makes her a heavy favourite here and we are backing her to complete the win in this one.
